Board of Directors

Peter Montague

Peter Montague’s professional background is in Construction, Facilities and Project management. His list of other interests is a bit more diverse, beekeeping of course, as well as woodworking, metalworking, casting, and electronics. He is an urban and suburban beekeeper who has been keeping bees for the better part of a decade. He first got involved with Boston’s beekeeping community as a presenter at BABA’s Tour De Hives, and then came on the BABA’s board as Vice President and eventually President. As President, Peter’s goals are to grow the club to over 500 members, fill all the empty seats on the board, grow our educational programming and scale of our events. Feel free to reach out to him at pmontague@bostonbeekeepers.org or at 857-209-0985 if you have any questions about our group or events or if you just want to talk about beekeeping.

Dave Strickler – Vice President

A serial entrepreneur in the tech industry and BABA’s VP and Webmaster, Dave Strickler has always been fascinated with the decidedly low-tech art of beekeeping. The opportunity for his own colony finally presented itself in 2012, and he quickly immersed himself in all things “bee”. He now keeps his hives humming on Cape Cod, and mentors other newbees. His goal as a beekeeper is to breed organically raised, local queens to break our dependence on purchasing package bees from the South. He lives between Boston and Cape Cod and loves to give curious house guests tours of his hives.

Dave also runs beekeeping.io which aggregates hive telemetry from around the world, sharing it with entomologists and citizen scientists alike. In January 2017, it launched its companion public access site, www.beecounted.org which displays hundreds of apiaries and their hive’s temperature, humidity, and weight.
